I really want a black suit, but I’ve spent a fuckton of money already this month, and I’m gonna spend more in two weeks when I go to Calgary. And then more, assuming I stick with my plan of staying in Philadelphia for the weekend when I go to see Pig. I could just scrap that and drive up and back, but I really don’t want to. I like Philadelphia and I have friends there.

To be clear, I can totally afford all of this, and buying a suit, too. I just feel bad spending so much money. And part of me still feel like I should “grow up” and buy a place to live.

Eh, that's what the money's there for. No sense having if if you're not spending it. (Beyond a certain reasonable amount of savings/investment, naturally.)

Also home ownership is way overrated.

Thirty-year mortgage... adult male life expectancy from 1976 is ~75... my age is 40... yeah, no.

Now, there /is/ the advantage that you don't get your rent raised, or evicted for no reason, but still. Meh.

I am glad that you are considering carefully. If you have 6 months of rent and expenses covered in reserve, then you are pretty much set. Whatever you decide, I look forward to your stories as they unfold.

I think it's a good thing to be money-conscious, but enjoy it before you're too old to do so.

I also think that home ownership is overrated, but I'm also not in a position to even be able to afford a house, even within the next 5 years.

Regardless, I do think it's worth careful consideration, rather than just doing it because that's the "expectation" of being an "adult."

I guess if you enjoy suits. I consider them a sad waste of money.

To me dressing up is shaving (full body) and putting on nearly-naked clothing, or wearing my best and angriest t-shirts or tanks.
