I meant to post about last week, well, last week. But i never got around to it.

So, latest developments.

Monday my knee still didn't feel 100% so I called the doctor. Got an appointment for Tuesday.

Tuesday I went to the doctor. He pushed, pulled and bent my knee and decided it was something to do with the knee-cap. Patello-femoral pain something-or-other, I think. Basically the patella is rubbing funny and causing me discomfort/ouchies. He determined this by flexing the knee and feeling the patella popping in there (yay experimentation and observation). He sent me to get an X-ray just to make sure there wasn't anything else wrong, and gave me a bunch of knee exercises to do. Then I went to work. Got there around lunch time. At 3:30 that afternoon, I got stuck in an elevator, for an hour and a half. It sucked. Then it took my 2.5 hours to get home on account of every road being at least two kinds of fucked up from the weather. EPIC FAIL. I pulled myself off that trip. It sucks, because I was really looking forward to it, but it's for the best. I did learn, though, that I'm in fact going on another trip in April. Amarillo Texas again. I'd signed up to go months ago, and forgot until someone was talking to me about getting the travel arrangements set up. That's something, I guess.

Wednesday I took my coworkers to lunch to celebrate my promotion. Have I mentioned in this medium that I was promoted? Well I was. I'm a Band IV now (GS-13 equivalent). Go me for kicking ass.

Thursday was, a Thursday. Friday night I went out for all-you-can-eat sushi with baranoouji and jduffy1535. We went to Todai in Fair Oaks mall. Lord, did we gorge. It was a tremendous feat of gluttony (precipitated by the Lenten meat-ban< ironically). Afterwards we hung out with damian792 and becca5 at Champs. It was a pretty good night.

Saturday night was becca5's birthday, and there was a party at her place. All of us from Friday night were there, plus additional friends of Becca. Much fun was had. I stayed way later than I planned. I didn't get home and into bed until 1 AM. Then I got up at 5 and went to work. Worked yesterday, too. Today, tomorrow and Thursday, I am off.

I've got an appointment to see the optometrist tomorrow. It's time for the annual eye exam. I assume something will have changed and I will need new glasses. I think I will act on a suggestion fuzzyamy made some time ago, and try to get some bolder/more interesting frames. Try something different to go with my long hair.

This week or next I NEED, NEED, NEED to go to IKEA and buy a bookcase. Things are getting out hand here. Since my last substantive post, I have bought volumes 3 and 4 of Hellsing, read them, and bought volumes 7 through 8. I've also bought the second Full Metal Panic! light novel. Today I went to Borders and got this book about Operation Bodenplatte for 40% (yay coupons in my e-mail). I also bought a Kaiser Chiefs CD. Then I went to Anime Pavilion and got this Edward Elric figure. The cashier asked me if I'd found everything ok, and when I said I wasn't able to find any of the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, he said they in fact had it, but needed to dig it out of crates that had come back from Katsucon. They did this, but they were out of some of them. I bought volumes 2 and 3. Then I went to Barnes and Noble and got volumes 1 and 4!  Hee hee. Am I nuts or what???

I am completely addicted to Fullmetal Alchemist! I've finished the first two DVD boxed sets, and I bought the third on Saturday. The last one comes out March 11, and I can't wait. It's quickly become one of my favorite anime series. I love the setting, characters and story.  And *shock* it's not even a girls with guns/swords anime! I've learned that about halfway through the series the anime diverges widely from the (still ongoing) manga, so I've decided to start reading the books, too. Yikes, how many things have I bought in just a little over a week??? Shit, I forgot I also bought the Burst Angel OVA, too! SO that's one more thing. I'm sure within a few weeks I'll have watched all the anime I have, and read all the manga. Even if I give that stuff up for a while and stick to real books, I'm still going to be running out of consumable entertainment soon! Then I'll have to buy more! I still have two other figures I know I want to buy, too.

Oh, while I'm discussing buying, I am seriously considering buying a CD I will not understand at all!!  I think I'm going to buy a Nana Kitade album, just so I can have this song. It was the first closing theme for Fullmetal Alchemist, and I LOVE it! Between the textless end titles on DVDs, and the video on You tube, I think I've listened to it 100 times in the past few days. I need to decide whether to buy a CD used or new. New one would be like, 50 bucks!!! Eek! I may have to risk used so I don't feel like a complete lunatic. I can spend the savings on a figure, maybe.

Rest of this week: Glasses, laundry, cleaning, maybe browsing cars. Reading manga and watching anime, too. Must be careful not to get so into that stuff that I forget about the cleaning and laundry though. I need clean clothes and could do with less clutter in my living space.

Whoah. That's a lot of crap, isn't it? All this trivia really adds up, and when I finally sit don to put it all on paper the web it spews out like a flood, all over the place. You're all probably bored with this. I'll try to have something of substance next time I write in this thing.

At least until you get your cd, I mean. So you don't have to listen on youtube.

Thanks! But I reckon I can wait. A few days shouldn't kill me.

Interesting that you've mentioned both Hellsing and Fullmetal Alchemist in the last few weeks-- those are my sister's two most recent obsessions, anime-wise.

Cool! If sis is an anime freak, it doesn't surprise me she would be into those, though. I've been to my first two anime convetnions in the past year, and two of the most common shows I remember cosplayers from are Fullmetal Alchemist, Hellsing. The third was Naruto, which I haven't seen but don't plan on watching. Doesn't seem like my bag.

She's mostly a dabbler, I think, though I imagine that could change once she moves into an income bracket that could support the habit. :)

So very true. As the bumper sticker says: "Anime: Crack is cheaper"
